The Pocket Tool is used to take a sketch on a plane and create a pocket or void in a solid.

Options and Parameters

  • Type: This option defines the way that the Pocket Tool creates the pocket. The types of pockets are:
  • Dimension: This type tells the Pocket Tool to create a pocket that is a fixed depth. The depth of the pocket is specified in the Dimension parameter;
  • To first: The Pocket Tool creates a pocket from the plane containing the sketch to the first plane that it finds.

    Note

    This type behaves in the same way as the Through all type if there are only two planes in the solid.

  • To last: The Pad Tool creates a pocket from the sketch to the last plane that it encounters.

    Note

    This type behaves in the same manner as the Through all type if this option is used on a sketch that is on the outside face of the solid.

  • To face: The Pocket Tool will create a pocket from the sketch through to the face that you choose;
  • Dimension: This parameter specifies the depth of the pocket that is created;
  • Symmetric to plane: The Pocket Tool will create a pocket that is the same depth on both sides of the sketch if it can;
  • Second depth: The Pocket Tool will create a pocket that has different depths on either side of the sketch.

    Note

    This parameter is only available when the Two Dimensions type is being used.
