The Revolve Tool allows you to revolve a 2D sketch around an axis. You can control the size of the resulting object by moving the sketch away from the origin of the sketch.

Important

The placement of the sketch in relation to the plane it will be revolved around defines the overall size of the resulting solid. The solid will be larger when the sketch is placed further away from the plane.

Examples

These are some example applications where the Revolve Tool could be used:

  • Turned table leg - the profile of the leg is defined in a sketch that is revolved around vertical axis.
  • Wooden ring - the profile of the ring is defined a sketch
  • End piece for a hay rake table

Warning

The Reversed and Symmetric to Plane options are incompatible with a 360O rotation angle.

Options

  • Angle: The amount of rotation applied to the the sketch. The sketch can be rotated up to 360O.
  • Reversed: The Revolve Tool rotates the sketch to the front of the plane, and this option causes the Revolve Tool to rotate the sketch behind the plane.
  • Symmetric to plane: This option causes the Revolve Tool to rotate the sketch forward AND behind the plane. The sketch is rotated half the rotation angle in each direction.
